FAQ
How much glaze should I make?
Approximately, about 1 pound/453 gram of dry glaze will make about 1 pint/0.5 liter of liquid glaze slurry. But let’s make it simple! Remember as 500g dry will make about 1 pint/0.5 liter. The amount you need depends on the size of the work, desired application thickness, and application methods.
How much water should I use to mix the glaze?
It really depends on the recipe and application method, but you can begin with 40-50% of the dry weight. For example, if you are mixing 500g dry, add 200g - 250g of water first. Then, if it's still thick, add more water gradually to the desired viscosity.
How do I apply glazes?
You can brush, dip, pour or spray glazes.
Do I need to sieve the glaze?
Yes. You should use 60 mesh to sieve your glaze slurry. (Depending on materials, you might need to use 40 mesh.) It will ensure a homogeneous and lump-free glaze slurry.
What do I do with the leftover glaze?
I highly recommend bringing a small container to save your left-over glaze slurry. Any food container with a lid will work. If you decide not to keep the glaze, make sure you discard it into the designated waste bin in the glaze lab.
